Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, Mission Support Directorate, Procurement and Property Management Division, located in El Paso, Texas.

Duties

This position will allow you to support the field and USBP mission by performing manual labor associated with the operations of the warehouse storage and distribution facility. Apply for this exciting opportunity to ensure maximization of capabilities and efficiencies in support of mission objectives by leveraging a CBP enterprise-wide approach. This position starts at an hourly rate of $18.17 (WG-05, Step 1) to $21.20 (WG-05, Step 5). In this Materials Handler position, you will serve as a warehouse storage and distribution facility for USBP mission contingency stocks. Typical work assignments include: Receiving, identifying, validating, unloading, and storing heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc. to include the ability to operate forklift, lift 40 lbs, operate truck with trailer, utilize simple Office computer programs, and to work outdoor Preparing issue and turn-in documents and orders supplies Receiving and processing incoming shipments of supplies Offloading supplies and checks items received against receiving documents Conducting inventories by counting types and quantities of items, participates in location surveys to assure accuracy of locator file and stock data, and maintains tally listings during the count

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.To minimally qualify for the WG-5 grade level you must meet the Screen Out Element Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision To meet the screen out element, you should have experience performing the following duties: Receiving, storing, and assembling a variety of bulk supplies, materials, and equipment for issue and shipment Pulling items for issue and shipment following established priorities and location system Preparing and issuing turn-in documents; and ordering supplies Completing and processing appropriate forms according to instructions Opening, counting, and visually inspect for any overages, shortages, and damaged items; and reporting to supervisor Participating in wall-to-wall location surveys to assure accuracy of locator files and stock data Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. In addition to the experience described above, you will also be evaluated on the basis of your overall level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas: Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprints) Knowledge of Material Dexterity and Safety NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.
