This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Office of Research Services, Electronic Records Division, which is responsible for accessioning, processing, preserving, and providing access to electronic records in the custody of Research Services. As an archivist in the Reference Branch, you will carry out complex assignments related to providing access to archival electronic records.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As an Archivist, you will:

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To be qualified for this position at the GS-09 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience performing basic archival tasks, such as verifying the completeness of a set of records or locating relevant records to answer customer requests; AND Experience researching and reporting on archival records; AND Experience providing customer service to various audiences through oral and written communication techniques; AND Experience utilizing various systems, software, or databases to locate and manage records or complete other tasks. OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (i.e., beyond the first year) of graduate education is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.

Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
