The primary purpose of this position is to process various security related documentation including requests for security investigation and clearances, perform standard and non-standard reviews of security clearance applications, and process Security Information Files (SIFs) in support of established Personnel Security Programs (PSP) and issuance of identification credentials, as well as other documents to include vehicle registrations and registration of privately owned firearms.
Duties
1.Processes applications and issues restricted area badges; contractor badges identification cards, controlled identification media, temporary passes and vehicle registration to eligible personnel.
2. Serves as the installation subject matter expert for DBIDS and maintain an appropriate level of proficiency.
3. Processes requests for Personnel Security Investigations (PSIs) and performs substantive reviews of security clearance applications.
4. Processes and assists in maintaining Security Information Files (SIFs). Reviews reports of information/investigation received on individuals in determining whether to establish SIF.
5. Performs fingerprinting for new and updated controlled installation access media. Fingerprints active duty, guard, reservists, eligible dependents, civilian employees and contractors. Maintains controlled forms.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate Secret security clearance
- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays

- Typing and computer operation is performed, however, a qualified typist is not required
Qualifications
Qualifications:
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions for the GS-0086, Security Clerical and Assistance Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems.Examples of specialized experience includes practical knowledge of standardized security rules, regulations, directives, issuance of ID cards, vehicle permits, restricted area badges, or other forms of authorization; knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports. EDUCATION: Four years of education above high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience as described above may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions.
2. Knowledge of personnel security clearances and investigation processes and the procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization.
3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports.
4. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
