About the Position: Serves as Senior Construction Control Representative and Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for job site construction control of contract work for assigned military construction, civil works, or Work for Others (WFO) construction programs.

Duties

Works under general supervision of Resident Engineer. Determines whether all materials and equipment to be incorporated into finished job meet plans and specifications. Ensures proper installation and workmanship, safety requirements, adherence to progress schedules, etc. Reviews contractor's shop drawing details to ascertain adherence of the proposed work to contract requirements. Work is primarily with solution of technical problems, controversial interpretation of design and/or installation details, proposed contract changes, and progress and payment estimate matters. Reviews pre-bid plans and specifications for Biddability/ Constructability/Operability (BCO) on assigned contracts to determine practicality from a construction standpoint. Reviews contractors' price proposals for additional work to be performed under the original contract and payment estimate items for consistency with actual job-site status of work. Evaluates on-the-job construction progress to ensure that the contractor is maintaining satisfactory progress.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • Incumbent must have the potential to be appointed as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and obtain certification as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
  • Work involves using numerous special safety precautions, including wearing personnel protective clothing (non-breathing HazMat suits), respirators, and using man-lifts.
  • Work involves stooping, bending, climbing, roofs, crawling under buildings and in conduit, confined spaces, high voltage areas, and other contaminated areas.
  • Exposure to hazardous wastes, asbestos, dust, tunnel work, and gases occur frequently.
  • Exposure to extreme heat and/or cold temperatures during summer and winter months is possible.
