You will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES ASSISTANT in the NRRO SUPPORT (CODE 2399) of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will control access to the physical office, answer telephones, determine nature of requests, and direct callers and visitors to appropriate staff. You will be responsible for all handling incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence. You will maintain office/building material condition and office equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Experience providing effective oral and written communication to personal contacts with tact and diplomacy. 2. Experience working independently, accepting responsibilities, being resourceful, and exercising sound judgement. 3. Experience applying knowledge of various management functions, processes and principles sufficient to research, compile and present information for use by others. 4. Experience applying knowledge of software systems required to complete all tasks assigned. For GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Experience applying knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, format requirements, security regulations, file and mail procedures. 2. Experience applying knowledge of software systems required to complete all tasks assigned. 3. Experience maintaining a supervisor's calendar to schedule appointments, conferences, and any other commitments based upon knowledge of workload.
