You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) in the Security Battalion of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
Duties
You will perform as a first responder through emergency medical, water rescue, confined space rescue and tactical.
You will use fire prevention techniques, fire safety for inspection of buildings and spill response response.
You will operate three engine companies, two aerial ladder truck, ambulances and brush units.
You will participate in daily training and instruction classes covering all phases of fire protection and fire prevention of fire which includes all fire fighting subjects from theory and chemistry of fire to fire to fire flow hydraulics.
You will flush, slow test and perform minor maintenance of fire hydrants and check water system sectional valves and hydrant valves on a regular basis.
You will administer emergency care and treatment for illness and injuries of occupational and non-occupational origin for Marines, dependents, government employees and visitors.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

- You will be required to possess and maintain a current Firefighter I and II certification.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current Emergency Medical Technician certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a Driver Pump Operator Driver certification within 18 months of employment.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current HAZARDOUS MATERIAL OPERATIONS certification.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 certification.
- This position has a maximum entry age of 37. Candidates that will be older than 37 at the time of appointment will require an age waiver.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing duties as part of an emergency response team with tasks involving delivery of emergency services during fire, medical rescue, mass casualty, natural disaster, hazardous material spills, or acts of terrorism.
