About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, Engineering & Construction Division, Construction Branch, Southern NJ Resident Engineer Office (REO). The duty location is Gloucester City, NJ.

Duties

You will assist in reviewing plans, specifications, shop drawings, and requests for changes to determine site compatibility, applicability of terrain and soils, feasibility of structures and to anticipate problems. Observe and investigate all construction phases to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, procedures, use of materials, contract provisions and schedules, and shop drawings. Ensure adherence to safety program, checking work areas, methods of performance, etc., for safety practices. Assist with the preparation of cost estimates for contract modifications reflecting the status of construction progress, delays in construction, noted deficiencies, and compliance with standards, materials, and/or contract modifications.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires you to possess a Valid State Driver’s License.
  • This position is subject to medical examination for medical surveillance to comply with OSHA regulations.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • The duties of this position require travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
  • This position requires an initial 40 hr + 8 hr refresher OSHA training course for hazardous and toxic waste (HTRW) and other mandatory training courses.
