Duties

You will independently apply software security best practices throughout the software development life cycle. You will specifically develop, test, and validate computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs and provide actionable results. You will analyze the security of new or existing computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs. You will assess source code logic, mandating an understanding of standards and best practices for coding multiple functions. You will identify, document, and consult on specific information security threats and vulnerabilities; assign associated likelihood of impact of vulnerabilities; and recommend mitigating controls in order to determine overall risk rating. You will conduct analyses and penetration testing methods to vet theoretical attack vectors in real world environments. You will provide authoritative technical expertise during engineering reviews for large scale enterprise systems. You will demonstrate ingenuity and flexibility in the fields on Operating System level development, networking protocols, computer and network security, and vulnerability analysis. You will communicate complex subjects and stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or ND-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing, creating, and maintaining existing computer applications; coding languages; assessing security threats; testing vulnerabilities AND providing technical expertise for large scale enterprise systems. Education

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
