Duties

You will make complex technical decisions and judgements for repairs on complex boiler systems. You will ensure all safety procedures and environmental control safeguards are followed. You will monitor and test the operation of power boiler systems to identify malfunctions and potential problems with equipment. You will perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant systems and equipment. You will service units by cleaning or replacing filters, strainers, orifices, ignition devices, and other items on power boilers.

Requirements

The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision such as: 1) Installing, maintaining and repairing a variety of steam and hot water equipment systems involving power boilers with complicated components, critical requirements and rigid tolerance; 2) Monitoring and adjusting thermostats, switches, regulators, and other safety devices and alarm systems in compliance with established safety standards; 3) Troubleshooting and repairing pollution control equipment; and 4) Using electronic controls, devices and automatic boiler management systems to identify equipment malfunctions.
