This position is located at the Medical Imaging Department, within the Division of Medical Services, at Phoenix Indian Medical Center, in Phoenix, AZ. The incumbent serves as Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist in a general medical and surgical hospital, supervising complex and highly specialized procedures within the Medical Imaging Department. This position is accountable to the Clinic Practice Manager.
Duties

Participates in the strategic planning of the department; plans, directs and coordinates departmental business activities; provides advice, counsel, education and service to CEO and staff; develops methods for improving business operations.
Assists Practice Manager and Department Chief in development of program goals and objectives; determines the content, character and functions of program components; defines and resolves questions, problems and issues which may not be susceptible to treatment in traditional ways with sensitivity to varied medical, ethical, social, economic, and cultural conditions.
Responsible for effective direct technical support to ensure the performance of a variety of highly advanced specialized clinical support functions and procedures are performed in compliance with uniform standards in Computerized Tomography, Ultrasound, plain film and Mammography.
Manages and ensures timely and complete capture of Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) digital image data into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Assists in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Radiology Package of the RPMS, by developing local package enhancements, updating procedure codes, and ensuring data quality and timeliness.
Qualifications

INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: You must meet one of the Individual Occupational Requirements below for this position.
Completion of an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education AND certified as a radiographer in my field as evidenced by my active State or national license which is in good standing.

Have been employed by the Federal Government in a Radiologic position prior to January 13, 1986 and show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.
-OR-
Have been employed by the Federal Government in a Radiologic position after January 13, 1986 and have received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, OR practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence.
In addition, to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirements listed above, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0647-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Experience in a hospital, clinic, or health care setting performing a variety of routine and complex radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology and mammography, ultrasound or computerized tomography; operating diagnostic radiology equipment to produce radiographic studies used in medical diagnosis and treatment; coordinating and overseeing the work of other staff; and assisting in planning and directing the functions of a Radiology Department.
In addition to meeting the IOR and Minimum Qualifications listed above, you must also meet the following Selective Placement Factor for this position to be considered qualified -
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Certification
Certification in Ultrasound by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). (Please provide evidence with your application)
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
