This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), San Francisco Division, Office of Diversion Program Manager, Diversion Group (Fresno), Fresno, CA. This position's primary purpose is to perform a variety of technical work as it relates to law enforcement cases being investigated by Diversion Investigators or Special Agents in support of the Diversion Control Program.

Duties

As an Investigative Assistant, your typical work assignments may include: Performing unique queries of considerable difficulty using specialized skills related to law enforcement or compliance. Researching, assembling, compiling, and tabulating information and figures, from prescription records, as may be necessary for use in investigations, seizures, and as evidence in various cases. Utilizing word processing software, which permits creation, formatting, modification, and electronic printing of documents. Maintaining investigative case log and status system through review of investigative files and input of data to automated and manual systems, and maintenance of cases and administrative filing systems in accordance with established procedures.

  • Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application. Applicants applying for the GS-06 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: GS-06: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) reviewing information for compliance with established administrative requirements; 2) researching a variety of computer systems to extract data; 3) preparing routine correspondence; and 4) coordinating meetings. GS-07: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) analyzing data to identify trends; 2) performing database queries related to law enforcement or compliance; 3) preparing reports related to investigations; and 4) maintaining a suspense system to track case files.
