About the Position: Serves as an Inspector General for the Preliminary Investigations Branch (Assistant Inspector General (IG), in the U. S. Army Inspector General Agency's Investigations Division (DAIG-IN).

Duties

Analyze incoming complaints and determine whether the allegations have actionable evidence. Recommend disposition of complaint analysis activities based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty, and requirements of assignments. Regularly represent the Division in making appropriate notifications and coordinating investigative activities with senior-level managers and senior officials within the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). Review closure reports, coordinates for or conducts preparation and editing of reports summarizing these investigations for U.S. Army Inspector General Agency’s Investigations Division (DAIG-IN) and makes appropriate notifications. Monitor the progress of appropriate open inquiries / investigations against Army Senior Officials being conducted by outside agencies. Advise DAIG-IN leadership on case-related matters and provides guidance to field IGs worldwide. Review DAIG-IN correspondence and reports for administrative correctness. Prepare reports on investigation conducted by the Division and outside agencies.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.
• Successful completion of The Inspector General School is required.
• Applicants referred for consideration will be subject to a database check against the Army’s IGARS database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigations.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
