This position is located in a National Park Service Unit. The primary purpose of the position is to operate one or more motor vehicles, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. The Vehicles operate by this position meet the definition of a commercial motor vehicle, and the incumbent of the position is required to have a commercial driver's license (CDL). This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is subject to pre-employment testing.
Duties
Operate single axle dump truck with non-synchronized manual transmission for hauling, dumping, and spreading.
Operate single axle dump truck up to 38,000 GVW and haul equipment with trailer up to 44,000 GVW.
Operate single axle dump truck in snow and ice conditions, plowing with plow and sander.
Operate rubber wheeled loader and backhoe for loading dump trucks with material.
Operate backhoe to dig up and replace culvert pipe on dirt and paved roads.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Experience independently operating motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight up to 38,000 pounds with air brakes for hauling, dumping, spreading, and hauling equipment with a trailer up to 44,000 pounds in all kinds of weather like snow and ice for plowing snow with a plow and sander; independently interpret and follow oral and written instructions, perform routine operator maintenance, and lift and carry items weighing over 50 pounds.(SCREEN OUT)
