About the Position: As the Environmental Compliance Coordinator you will serve as the technical expert on all regulatory compliance issues and activities. You will Plan, coordinate, and execute assignments ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental and safety regulations.

Duties

As the Environmental Compliance Coordinator you will: Plan, Coordinate, and execute regulatory compliance programs. Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental and safety regulations. Direct the clean-up and disposal of materials, contaminated sites, spill response activities, and hazardous waste. Assure proper use, handling, labeling, and storage of toxic chemicals and flammable substances. Train personnel on safety procedures, protective equipment, and other requirements. Maintain knowledge library of all environmental law and safety statutes and regulations impacting the Project. Maintain and advise on changes in medical surveillance records.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting is required.
  • Certification for asbestos removal and/or abatement is required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-09 Qualifications: Specialized Experience: Qualified applicants for this position must describe in their resume at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in federal service with ensuring environmental compliance, direct hands-on experience labeling and storing hazardous waste as well as performing environmental assessments and evaluations. Applicants may qualify at the GS-09 level with education by having completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. OR by having a Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11 Qualifications: Specialized Experience: Qualified applicants for this position must describe in their resume at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the 09 level in federal service with ensuring environmental compliance, direct hands-on experience labeling, storing, and disposing of hazardous waste as well as performing environmental assessments and evaluations. Applicants may qualify at the GS-11 level with education by having completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. OR by having a Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
