THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2782000 and is part of the LOGISTICS, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.

Duties

As a SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, GS-2003-09, you will serve as a Supply Management Specialist in a developmental capacity. This is a developmental position leading to the next position of a Supply Management Specialist, GS-2003-11. Duties and responsibilities of the position are essentially the same as that of the full-performance PD with the exception of additional training, supervision, guidance, and direction necessary until incumbent attains the full-performance level of experience. As level of knowledge and experience increases, level of supervision will decrease accordingly. Incumbent may be promoted to next higher grade without further competition after completion of minimum TIG (Time-in-Grade) requirement, completion of all training as indicated by manager, with recommendation of the supervisor, provided the full-performance position remains as a valid position. Difference in factor levels are provided below.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; over/comp time may be required.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • This is a National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted, Officer, Warrant Officer GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a general knowledge of one or more aspects of the supply field. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience analyzing, developing, evaluating to improve supply programs, policies, procedures, techniques, etc. Experience involving the control of supply stocks and accounting for equipment. Knowledge of supply functions, cataloging, maintenance, and disposal procedures. Experience in cost estimates, budgets, or funding management. Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstruct records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support. Experience requiring person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc.
