About the Position: Performs various grounds maintenance tasks in and around the airfield. Participate in Contingency exercises both real and notional. All of these duties may be executed without direct supervision on a shift and rotational basis.

Duties

Perform parking, ground handling and servicing to various types of aircraft utilizing Lawson Army Airfield. Perform various grounds maintenance tasks in and around the airfield a shift and rotational basis. Serve as operator for heavy duty tow tractors in positioning aircraft. Operate and maintain assigned equipment.

Requirements

  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) AIRCRAFT ATTENDANT (MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR)~ without more than normal supervision. Meeting incoming aircrafts, refueling aircrafts, directing aircraft into parking positions through hand signals, and servicing aircrafts. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes the tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Incumbent is required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and work in tiring positions. Incumbent is required to wear appropriate safety equipment and clothing in the performance of assigned tasks, and to observe applicable safety regulations. Incumbent is frequently required to lift baggage, equipment, parts, etc., that weigh up to 75 pounds. Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work inside and outside. Inside work is done in drafty, noisy areas, and fumes are usually present. Outside work is done in occasional bad weather. Incumbent works in dirty, dusty, and greasy areas; in close proximity of moving propellers and danger from fumes, fire, and falling objects. There is also frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, shocks, strains, and broken bones.
