This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin,Office of Inspector and Evaluations. As an Auditor(Performance), you will serve as an auditor for TIGTA to provide expert audit services covering broad departmental programs
Duties
As an Auditor(Performance), you will:
Conduct valid and reliable research to analyze internal and external information to assess risk factors and identify high-risk areas.
Independently identify, develop, and quantify audit outcomes for findings and recommendations that result in cost savings, program improvements, or revenue enhancement.
Evaluate complex systems, controls and information, and provides sufficient, competent and reliable evidence to support audit issues on integrity situations.
Ensure all elements of findings are developed and provides appropriate recommendations.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience for the GS-13 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined below.
Conducting and planning audits or projects. AND
Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following in relation to audits or projects:
Communicating issues identified to senior stakeholders; Recommending courses of action; Performing briefings and/or presentations to defend a position or to gain support from the audience; Developing written products. OR
Planning, conducting, and documenting results of audits or projects within a tax administration organization.
Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Education
Education Requirements:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
