About the Position: The Supervisory Security Guard assigns work in terms of organizational objectives and special assignments, set priorities, and deadlines. The incumbent independently plans and assigns work through subordinate supervisors. You are expected to be available to assist with problems that are controversial or involve policy. The work of this supervisor is considered authoritative, and is reviewed for technical conformity and attainment of organizational objectives.

Duties

Plans and coordinates the activities of three shifts of security guards, through subordinate supervisors. Directs the work of an organizational unit engaged in providing protective security and physical security services to a military installation. Exercises supervisory responsibility ensuring that an acceptable quality and quantity of work are performed. Makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors, lead guards, and subordinates. Develops training courses based on regulatory requirements and supervises necessary training for guard personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires incumbent to maintain clearance certification for access and exposure to law enforcement sensitive information and operation of NCIC terminals.
  • This position requires incumbent to wear the Department of Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56
  • This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors
  • Must obtain initial and annual certification under Individual Reliability Program per AR 190-56.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Shift work is required, and Overtime may be required.
  • Must successfully complete initial security guard training within 90 days of employment.
  • Must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training within 60 days of employment.
  • May be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • Must pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license.
  • This position is covered by the 1998 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922).
  • A pre-employment physical and drug test is required IAW AR 600-85.
