Duties
This position is a Deputy Chief of Staff position, located within the Department of Justice (DOJ), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of the Administrator (A). This position serves as Attorney Advisor in the Office of the Administrator, focusing on the regulatory functions of the DEA. Serves as a close, confidential advisor to and representative of the Administrator.
Following the direction of the Administrator, the incumbent is responsible for:
Reviewing administrative cases; analyzing transcripts and records generated in connection with the administrative process;
Performing legal analysis, research, and writing on administrative law issues;
Working closely with the DEA Administrator and staff in the preparation of final orders for issuance by the Administrator.

Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Drug testing designated position
- Must be active member of a Bar Association
Qualifications
All applicants must be an active member of a bar in good standing (any jurisdiction) and possess: 1) a J.D. degree; 2) excellent academic credentials; 3) strong oral and written advocacy skills; 4) superior legal research and analytical skills; and 5) a demonstrated ability to function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment. Five (5) years of legal experience is preferred, and experience in administrative law is also preferred but not required.
