Serves as an Engineering Technician within the FAA Logistics Center. Serves as an independent contributor, a contributing specialist on large work activities, or as a team leader for single or small work activities. May provide formal instruction to other technicians.

Duties

Performs highly specialized technical work associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible. Applies broad experience and advanced technical knowledge performing troubleshooting, analysis, repair, and replacement of electronic or electromechanical equipment on surveillance and advisory systems. Electronic test equipment and knowledge of electronic theory is used in said activities.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this FV-H (FG/GS-12) position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G (FG/GS-10/11) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes: Experience operating test equipment, analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex systems; performing troubleshooting, analysis, repair, and replacement of electronic or electromechanical equipment on surveillance and advisory systems; prepares sketches, drawings, specifications, technical reports, trip reports, and other pertinent written records; experience improving efficiency through time saving measures, cost saving measures, and/or reallocation of resources.ANDQuality Ranking Factor (QRF): Well qualified applicants will demonstrate experience operating test equipment to include network analyzers, power meters, digital/analog oscilloscopes, electronic counters and spectrum analyzers, as well as experience with repair of rotary joint(s) and/or radar antenna components found on NAS systems.ANDPhysical Requirements: You must be able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position without hazard to yourself or others. Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
