About the Position: This position is located with the 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Rock Island Arsenal, IL. This position will be filled by a term appointment not to exceed 13 months

Duties

Utilizes automatic data processing systems, such as Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System (TOPS) and Defense Personal Property System (DPS), to prepare necessary transportation documents. Ensures inventory is complete and report on damage and missing items is accurate. Inspects contractor’s performance at owner’s residence and at warehouse during packaging, packing, crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating, and unpacking. Inspects crates and material for overseas or domestic shipment and rejects those not meeting specifications. Assists customers by providing information concerning the claims process. Provides counseling and assistance on a wide variety of transportation services to DoD personnel and their families. Serves as liaison between customer and carrier/agent in the resolution of disagreements regarding carrier performance and/ or customer responsibilities. Performs pre-award survey for pack and crate contractor warehouse and equipment in accordance with current regulations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation is required.
• Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel of approximately 20%.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license.
• May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty.
• Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment.
