A housing stipend of up to $751.85 without dependents or $909.69 with dependents may be available per pay period.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to manage and supervise the Dental Department in the health center and to provide professional dental care in connection with the diagnostic treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, or preventive measures. Position reports to the Clinical Director.
Performing as a supervisor over other dentists and other dental deparment employees, planning development organization, integration and evaluation of clinical services for dental deparment, Ensures that dental department adheres to Joint Commission and other accredication standards.
Provide direct care services of a scope, quality and quantity consistent with Agency and facility policies.
Perform restoration of simple and compound cavities and perform oral surgery.
Administers local anesthesia.
Perform multiple extractions of teeth. Treat mouth and gum infections. Treat periodontal conditions, fit denture or other appliance.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Education:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure:
Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience:
In addition to meeting the above education and licensure requirements, applicant must have one or more full years of experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing professional dentistry work for GS-12 level.
Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position.

For the above specialty areas, experience, education, board certification, and/or training must clearly establish the applicant's status as a specialist.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12:
Two (2) year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science OR
2 full years of professional dentistry experience and/or training. This experience is equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Coordinate the day-to day clinical functions of a Dental Clinic; Manage work schedules of subordinate staff; Participate and advise in personnel matters relating to the dental staff including: staffing plan, recruiting andhiring; Arrange regular staff meetings; Assists Dental Providers in developing and maintaining Quality Assurance program; Meet regularly with the Dental Providers to present clinic staff ideas and concerns; Manage and purchase dental supplies and maintains dental budget; Orientate new staff members on Infection Control procedures, fire exit procedures, dental health record procedures, reappointment procedures, location of fire extinguishers, etc.; Provide support staff training.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
