This position is located in the Division of Nursing Services at the Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC), Gallup, NM. The Supervisory Nurse (ACNE-Outpatient) is responsible for overall managerial duties association with the organization, implementation, and evaluation of an effective and ongoing ambulatory nursing program. Provides direction as well as ensures monitoring, evaluation, and improvement in the quality and appropriateness of outpatient nursing services.
Duties

Provides direct supervision for Supervisory Nurses and select Nurse Specialist positions in the ambulatory care clinics, providing orientation as well as competency and performance evaluation.
Coordinates activities and communication between departments to develop policies, procedures, standards of care, and performance improvement activities; ensuring standardization throughout departments.
Ensures compliance with regulating agencies and third party payer requirements in relation to ambulatory nursing services and other accreditation standards.
Maintains budget for ambulatory nursing services including personnel, FTE's, equipment, supplies, travel, timekeeping and training. Initiates various personnel actions, performance awards, duty and shift assignments, reports and disciplinary actions for employees at level of authority.
Advises SCN's with workload data and assist with the development of staffing plans and performance improvement projects that address the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of outpatient nursing services.
On occasion will provide clinical supervision on a rotational basis including performance of Tour Supervisory Clinical Nurse.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing. A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-09 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-13: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Overseeing a nursing division in an operating health care facility; management ability to delegate authority; formulating and implementing nursing services in accordance with existing requirements, methods and procedures; conducting meetings and conferences with subordinate supervisors and staff; providing leadership and direction to nursing programs ensuring proper health care management, evidence based practice, safe and quality patient care; establishing and maintaining compliance with various regulatory accreditations, professional agencies, administrative policies and procedures, laws, regulations, standards and directive that are applicable to the organization; maintaining positive partnerships with community, tribal and educational programs and institutions and ensuring accountability to the governing board.
