You will serve as a Transportation Specialist in the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) of NAVAVNWARDEVCEN.

Duties

You will serve as principal technical expert on all phases of government travel for military, Department of Defense (DOD) civilian, family members, and invitation travel. You will serve as a principal travel specialist and advisor to the Administrative Officer (AO) in the areas of the Defense Travel System (DTS) and Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). You will be responsible for supervising, overseeing, training, and guiding the daily work of lower-level travel clerks and specialists (GS-6/7), while also providing a point of contact for all command personnel. You will maintain policies as set forth in higher echelon directives and regulations, and maintaining progressive programs designed to meet or exceed Navy policies regarding government timeline submissions, and delinquent accounts. You will be responsible for all accounting and disbursing functions related to TAD orders issued by NAWDC. You will assist with various aspects related to permanent change of station (PCS) travel requirements and travel claim processing.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Overseeing and advising on training curriculum for the government travel card programs to ensure complaints with travel requirements. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting in the development of training curriculum for the government travel card programs to ensure complaints with travel requirements. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

GS-09
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
