Duties

As a Building Manager, you will: Provide maintenance management for large complex facilities complete with elevators, centralized heating/cooling, fire alarms systems, security systems as well as other facility systems. Be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems within laboratory and office buildings, as well as chillers, cooling towers, chilled water pumps, steam boilers, boiler burner management, combustion control systems, medium-voltage switchgear, diesel generators, fuel oil distribution and Building Automation System (BAS) in utility plants. Schedule and approve, with input from Programs, all planned outages to facility systems. Oversee a variety of technical activities (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting and equipment installations) to resolve emergency facility issues.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: performing operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on facility equipment/systems such as chillers, cooling towers, chilled water pumps, steam boilers, boiler burner management and combustion control systems, fuel oil distribution systems and/or control systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
