This position is located in Tsaile Health Center, Health Promotion Department, Tsaile, AZ. The purpose of this position is to assist the Health Promotion Coordinator in managing the department, supervise the staff based at Tsaile Health Center and manage the department programs and activities by implementing, administering and promoting a variety of health, physical fitness and wellness programs to facilitate change at the individual, family, organizational, community and policy levels.

Duties

Works with Health Promotion Coordinator, Supervisory Physicians and the Health System Administrators and the Public Health Division. Implements and evaluates programs according to priorities, goals and objectives. Coordinates with departments and local organizations to meet the needs of clinic, communities, school and work sites in the service area. Coordinates quality management activities and quality monitoring reporting. Exercises overall supervisory responsibility for management and direction of the HP Program that includes work planning, work direction and personnel administration. Promotes a variety of health physical fitness and wellness programs for area assigned.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education - Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: administering, managing and coordinating the Health Promotion Program. This would include such things as administering, managing and coordinating the Health Promotion Program. This includes such things as planning, implementation, and evaluation of the community-based health promotion services. GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-9 grade level OR 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
