About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Alaska (USARAK), G2 Intel and Operations Division, Fort Richardson, AK 99505.
Duties
Serves as Supervisory Intelligence Officer (Staff Officer), primary action officer, and point of contact for coordinating and completing staff actions, preparing briefings, and acting as a liaison officer.
Provides expert guidance and assistance in the management of complex Pacific theater and worldwide G-2-related projects, studies, and action items and providing expert advice on the administrative aspects of various problems or situations.
Provides input on the development of a vision and strategic plan for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2, including the development of goals and objectives and future Intelligence and Security organizational requirements.
Supports G-2, 11th Airborne Division full spectrum intelligence operations and plans.
Identifies, plans, coordinates, and monitors the effective implementation of intelligence policies and procedures in support of all-source intelligence missions.
Works with the Section Chiefs for the development, implementation, and oversight of effective intelligence programs across the Command.
Manages annual budget development and execution, overseeing the Command’s integration with the Army’s Foundry Program and the Army’s Language Program.
Serves as Deputy G-2 and Senior Supervisor, performing the full range of technical and administrative supervision authority of military and government DCIPS civilian personnel assigned to G-2.
Serves as supervisor to G-2 senior staff personnel and the senior Army intelligence officer in Alaska when the G-2 deploys.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position may perform frequent travel, up to 25% to CONUS and overseas locations via airplane, train and automobile.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience with intelligence planning in support of intelligence operations, activities, and exercises; Experience in all source analysis in the preparation of target intelligence packages, enemy vulnerability assessments, and collection/target methodology plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).
Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
