You will serve as a PIPEFITTER in the MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS COMMAND of MAINTENANCE CENTER ALBANY.

Duties

You will service, troubleshoot, repair, and provide expertise on installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment. You will perform inspection, examination, preventive maintenance, and diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of high-pressure air distribution, lower pressure steam distribution, industrial wastewater treatment and sanitary sewage systems. You will work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan, lay out, install, modify, and repair systems. You will Install, modify, and repair utility, supply, and disposal systems, fixtures, fittings, and equipment such as sewage, water, oil lines, compressed air, vacuum, and acid systems, water closets, water heaters, valves, and pumps.

Requirements

  • This position requires which requires a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for this position. I am willing and able to submit to a SCHR check.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to read, interpret, and use drawings, blueprints, diagrams, sketches, instructions, and technical specifications; Ability to interpret and apply building plans and blueprints, and to use shop mathematics to lay out angles, arcs, and circles; Skill in the use of any of the accepted pipefitting methods and techniques, seating equipment, and installing any combinations of couplings, unions, and joints needed for the proper operation of the system; Skill in the maintenance and use of tools and equipment such as sliding squares, measuring tapes, dividers, chalk lines, plumb bobs, templates, star drills, grinders, hand and power pipe threaders and cutters, and pipe wrenches.; Skill in the use of tools and equipment such as plumb bobs, dividers, closet augers, hydrostatic pumps; knowledge of how various supply, disposal, and utility systems and equipment, such as water and gas systems, fire sprinkler equipment, and water closets, are installed and operate. Skill in the use of any of the accepted plumbing methods and techniques, seating equipment, and installing any combinations of couplings, unions, and joints needed for the proper operation of the systems and Skill in installing complex items from a variety of materials such as PEX tubing, galvanized pipe, black iron pipe, aluminum, stainless steel and other alloys.
