You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the Installation & Logistics Department, Facilities Maintenance Engineering Division of MCRD ERR PI SC.
Duties
You will work independently in the material receiving warehouse to unload or load delivery trucks of facility maintenance types of materials.
You will operate a fork lift truck in narrow and constricted warehouse aisles.
You will unload freight from tractor trailers or lighter delivery vehicles, read, assemble, file and process documents; verify condition of material and quantity; place material in marked shelf locations until needed for issuance.
You will answer recurring inquiries regarding the status of requisitions, estimated delivery date of material, and other questions received from trades personnel, receiving warehouse, or higher manage
You will process documentation with item receipts, operate desktop computers and other office peripherals to perform records search, data input, and data corrections.
You will maintain such items in a supply room or similar storage area, issue material to shop or work center personnel, keep local stock records.
You will reorder when stocks are low or at a specified reorder point, and performs related stock receipt, storage, control, and issue functions for expendable and non-expendable items for trades' personnel.
Requirements

I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Must be able to occasionally lift 70 lbs. or more, varying according to material concerned. Work involves kneeling, walking, standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, repeated bending, stooping, working in uncomfortable positions and moderate carrying of 15 to 44 lbs., must have good vision and hearing and both hands and legs. Hand trucks, dollies, hand carts, pallet jacks and trailers are available for use. May work at a rapid pace for lengthy periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works is performed both indoors and outdoors, may be hot, damp, cold, and drafty. Warehouses may be unheated in winter and lighting may not be adequate. be adequate There is some exposure to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. There is some dirty, dusty and greasy work. The employee must be alert to the risk of falling objects and to the possibility of shifting loads on the fork lift, plus other conditions which could cause it to overturn. Observance of normal safety practices within the warehouse, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations is required. Employee will be exposed to moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment. Employee will be required to use protective clothing or gear such as safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
