Duties
In this position you will work with a team of professionals to develop, implement, and monitor compliance protocols to protect facilities, operations, and assets from all manner of threats.
This position starts at a salary of $86,962.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $113,047.00 (GS-12, Step 10).
Salary: Salary listed reflects the rest of U.S. scale and, if applicable, will be adjusted to meet the locality pay or cost of living expenses of the duty location upon selection.
Typical duties include:
Conducting periodic inspections of CBP facilities, spaces, and assets to validate security program compliance.
Reporting identified compliance problems, concerns, violations of policy, regulations, laws, and directives to the Local Management and Security Operations Directorate (SOD) leadership; and providing compliance data and metrics as requested by SOD and/or the CCSO; prepares reports on compliance infractions, violations, and assists in official inquiries as appropriate.
Monitoring security components and system performance for problems, complaints, anomalies, failures, and negative effects on other systems, and conveys findings to the appropriate authority.
Reviewing newly issued security regulations or directives to ascertain their impact on program areas.
Monitoring the operability of Electronic Security Systems (ESS) including the Access Control System (ACS), Physical Access Control (PACS), Video Surveillance System (VSS) to include Network and Digital Video Recording capabilities, and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for all facilities within assigned Area of Operation.
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Ensuring appropriate security controls for resources have been applied; researching and gathering information to analyze information to identify trends and make recommendations
Explaining challenging compliance requirements, complicated concepts, and planned process changes
Conducting periodic inspections of facilities, spaces, and assets to validate security program compliance.

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 09/27/2024.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
