You will serve as an Exhibits Specialist in the Operations/Maintenance Department of NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NAVAL AVIATION.
Duties
You will perform a variety of skilled-craft methods, techniques, and processes to restore and maintain portions of aircraft exhibits and their components.
You will follow prescribed conservation measures with respect to historic materials and preform actual preservation and restoration.
You will repair and/ or replace components which are deteriorated or missing.
You will take steps to restore exhibits to original design features.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1.) Following prescribed conservation measures with respect to historical materials; 2.) Performing restoration and preservation of exhibits using knowledge of various shop trades such as sheet metal processes, woodworking, carpentry, etc.; 3.) Restoring and/or maintaining aircraft, engines, components or support equipment using a variety of methods, techniques and materials.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
One full year of graduate education.
OR
Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement
OR
Combination of education and experience
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position.
