Duty Location: This position reports to the Hoover Dam, Clark County, NV.
Duties
Performs work as a journey level Hydroelectric Mechanic (HEM).
Performs work involved in maintaining, testing, and repairing all equipment in a hydroelectric powerplant and pumping stations.
Overhauls, repairs, evaluates, and performance tests turbines, generators, motors, air compressors, pumps, pressure regulators, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks, intakes, spillways, diversion dam, and wasteway gates including appurtenant mechanical controls.
Dismantles, reconstructs, precision measures, welds, machines, repairs, and operates machinery.
Erects scaffolding, platforms, and hoisting devices.
Operates cranes, hoists, trucks and industrial tractors, and rigging incidental to lifting, moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling, and/or repairing hydroelectric powerplant and pumping plan machinery and related equipment.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position. The Journeyman Level Hydroelectric Mechanic must be fully skilled in at least 2 of the following trades: Mechanic, Machinist, Pipefitter, Welder, Crane Operator/Rigger, or Millwright. Your response to screen-out element must clearly be reflected in your resume or your application will be marked as not qualified.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, valid Driver's License. Failure to provide proof of such license will cause you to be rated ineligible for this position.
