This position is located in the Central District of Illinois.
The selectee of this position serves as a Financial Specialist. You will be responsible for analyzing existing District procedures to identify more efficient and effective methods for accomplishing program objectives and recommending changes/improvements to District management, providing technical advice and assistance to District management on the District procurement program, etc.
Duties
As a Financial Specialist at the GS-0501-9 level, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Providing advice to District management on the procurement programs;
Ensuring compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations, and administrative guidelines;
Conducting audits of individual accounts, vendor files, etc., to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and there has been strict adherence to regulations;
The responsibilities described above are for the full performance level. At the developmental grade levels, assignments may be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-0501-9 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
A. Specialized experience: At least one year (12-months) of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing duties which include the following: 1) Reviewing financial reports in order to identify problem areas and recommend solutions; 2) Assisting with the analysis of financial obligations and expenditures to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; 3) Participating in the preparation of annual budget, budget amendments, and supplemental appropriations; and 4) Monitoring budgets to ensure funds are obligated and spent in a timely and effective manner.
OR
B. Education : A master's or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.B. or J.D degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, examples of qualifying fields include Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, etc. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS)

C. Combination: A combination of education and specialized experience as listed above. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS)
