Duties

You will plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, and work orders. Review work order requirements, parts, and assemblies to be repaired, modified, or installed. You will visit work sites and analyze, evaluate, and determine damage when planning repair and modification projects. You will make changes to job layout based on site inspection of job. You will examine and troubleshoot general industrial plant machinery, equipment, and systems to determine area (s) of difficulty. You will diagnose malfunctions of complex machinery. You will disassemble and repair general industrial plant machinery, equipment, and systems, e.g., conveyor systems, bridge cranes, air compressors.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Work conditions require the employee to drive a government motor vehicle. The employee is required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license and government driver's license at all times for this position.
  • Emergency overtime may be required.
  • Must be able to safely and properly wear all personal protective equipment including respiratory protection respirator if required of the trade/shop.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • Must posse and maintain a valid CDL, ClassB with airbrakes.
  • The position is mission essential

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to do the work of the position without normal supervision performing common tasks including the dismantle, repair, relocate, modify, maintain, align, and install general nonproduction industrial plant machinery, equipment, and systems.
