This position is located in the Health Promotion Disease Prevention Branch, within the Division of Public Health at Crownpoint Service Unit, Crownpoint NM. The primary purpose of the position is to coordinate all phases of the Alcohol & Drug Prevention Program including methamphetamine and suicide collaborating with the service unit staff and Health Promotion priorities.
Duties
Plans, manages and evaluates the program; provides oversight, direction, control cost, develops yearly plan, and submits monthly updates to supervisor.
Facilitates, identifies and provides technical assistance with potential local Service Unit funding mechanism/process such as grant writing for requests of program priorities and communicates information to service unit staff and the community.
Facilitates collaboration in program development, implementation and evaluation projects addressing program priorities between I.H.S., Tribal, Community, school, and private entities.
Identifies prioritizes, plans, implements, evaluates, and markets Alcohol & Drug Prevention Project and Wellness Programs and other HPDP project.
Initiatives with input from Service Unit Executive Committee and staff, community, school and tribal program representatives.
Coordinates with the staff to identify, prioritize, plan, implement, evaluate, advocate and submit written reports.
Conducts data collection for program evaluation consistent with Service Unit Health Promotion report regarding all program evaluation plans.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS11- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Such as making decisions concerning the implementation of data, planning, and developing or refining methods which promotes health promotion services needed by the community and assisting in planning, developing and evaluating local health resources, needs and programs; applying varied duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods to a broad range of activities and problems; originating new techniques, establishing criteria for health promotion and health status measurement; developing new information to a wide range of physical, social, mental and environmental problems where professional expertise is needed to develop meaningful, productive and effective activities to upgrade the health of the Indian people and experience in managing multiple projects at once as well as work as a team leader for task groups including professionals, technicians and students, etc.
OR
GS11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
