These positions are located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, any Field Office in the Dallas Region of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provide support in the areas of examining and supervising insured financial conditions, leading sound policy development, evaluating resolution plans, and monitoring and mitigating systemic risks.
The duty location is determined upon selection.
Duties
Serve as a Regional resource on IT matters including those of high complexity.
Direct or conduct the ongoing analysis and evaluation of Service Providers (SP) and Financial Institutions (FI) and prepare Reports of Examination and other required correspondence as needed to affect FDIC supervisory responsibilities.
Evaluate information security and cybersecurity programs and conducts examination, visitation, and/or investigation activities in accordance with outstanding regulatory guidance.
Plan and direct the supervisory efforts at complex financial institutions (FI) and regional service providers (SP).
Serve as the principal supervisory contact with primary authority for the FDIC’s regulatory oversight activities for organizations as assigned.
Communicate with senior management of the SP or FI and effectively respond to or resolve their questions, complaints, and inquiries.
Maintain cooperative relationships with the appropriate state and Federal Banking Agencies.
Provide guidance and training as needed for examiners conducting IT examinations.
Participate in conferences, symposiums, outreach events, or meetings with other supervisory agencies and other officials.
Provide expert technical advice to examiners and other appropriate personnel and prepare reports and update to the FFIEC IT Examination Handbook, research papers on emerging IT technologies, updates of examination procedures and related training materials and manage or assist on projects.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Candidates must be a Commissioned Risk Examiner in the FDIC or another organization with comparable commissioning criteria used by the FDIC's Division of Risk Management Supervision.
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing information technology examinations of insured depository institutions, information systems, and data centers. Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting such items as financial data, system performance and security reports, and information technology related policies and procedures.
