The New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Social Worker (Program Coordinator) assigned to the Behavioral Health Residential Care Division (MH-RRTP). The incumbent will exercise professional Social Work practice skills and judgment in planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Residential program operations; ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and accreditation standards and meeting Veteran and other stakeholder needs

Duties

Duties include but not limited to: Evaluate compliance across NMVAHCS Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (MHRRTP) with respect to all requirements outlined in VHA Directive 1162.02(2019) governing program operations of VHA MHRRTPs. Evaluate the daily operations of the MHRRTP programs and identifies administrative and policy development needs and makes appropriate recommendations to the Director, BHCL. Provides assessment and safety screenings for new admits to the Residential units. Document all patient care in appropriate and timely manner. Participate in Discipline-specific Peer Review process. Ensure that staff provide full professional responsibility for assigned duties and assures the coordinated, integrated, restorative psychosocial rehabilitation for eligible Veterans Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Telework: Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Licensure: Candidate must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Education: Master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for master's degree in social work. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. Reference: VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G39 - Social Worker Qualification Standard. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-13. Physical Requirements: Work is sedentary but also demands standing, walking, bending, twisting, and carrying light items.
