About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Maintenance Division, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Duties
Survey contractor and Department of the Army Civilian compliance with standing operating procedures, statements of work, and Department of Army regulatory guidance.
Perform in-process inspections at various inspection stations during the repair and maintenance cycle.
Perform initial acceptance inspections to validate requirements and equipment safety.
Perform final inspection to ensure compliance and quality of work is performed and equipment is in safe condition before returning to customer.
Monitor operations to ensure work areas and conditions are conducive to a quality product and safe to operate in.
Execute surveillance techniques/procedures in inspecting operations to determine the degree of efficiency and effectiveness achieved.
Analyze quality data to detect unsatisfactory trends/conditions and/or weaknesses in the quality control system and to monitor quality control procedures.
Analyze and evaluate performance of work for contractors to determine if performance complies with standards listed in technical manuals, original equipment manufacturer standards, and performance work statement.
Evaluate field support level maintenance services, retail, national level supply operations performed for maintenance programs by using the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to work extended hours during exercises, crises, or contingencies to include shift work and weekends.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting inspections or analyzing data to detect unsatisfactory trends and/or weaknesses; 2) Determining the acceptability of products; and 3) Utilizing surveillance techniques or methods to evaluate contractor performance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
