Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist you will:
Provide executive leadership in directing, managing, planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating public health informatics programs and activities.
Direct the overall administration, integration, and management of Center or Division information technology and systems throughout the Center's scientific, programmatic, and administrative activities.
Represent the organization on agency-wide committees that establish national policy and implement legislation that affects public health information acquisition, transmission and dissemination.
Keep informed of, support, and make available to employee's equal employment opportunity policies, plans, and programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: serving as the informatics and technology management authority, providing direction and policy for laboratory data and/or surveillance systems, and serving as an information systems advisor on the development, support, application, standardization and integration of laboratory information/data and technology.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
