The purpose of the position is to assist higher graded employees on the construction and repair of park structures.
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of nine years. This term appointment is in support of the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA), National Parks and Public Lands Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF). Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
Duties
The major duties of the position Carpentry Worker include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work involves preservation, rehabilitation, construction, repairs, and installation to items such as framework, floor joist, rafters, roof sheathing, sub-flooring, decking, framing, doors, windows using a variety of historic and non-historic materials such as, wood timbers, beams, plywood, particle board sheet rock, paneling tile, etc.
Measure, cut, construct, install, repair, and modify wood, composite, and wood substitute items.
Apply standard measurements, specifications, and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing items such as frame structures, decking, partitions, shelving, doors, forms, siding, and scaffolds.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Use of Measuring Instruments
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Materials
