You will serve as a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC LEADER in the ELECTRICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will disseminate the work to subordinates by assigning work, establishing goals, maintaining schedules, and verifying the work has been accomplished according to accepted procedures and instructions. You will assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. You will give appropriate skills training utilizing shop training tools such as mock-ups, in shop work areas or facilities as appropriate, and on deck plates. You will receive correspondence, prepare reports, order material, review test memos, and inspect work. You will effectively utilize personnel, equipment, and material to attain a high productivity level.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Reading, utilizing, and working from complicated blueprints, diagrams, technical manuals, and electronic schematics. Ability to interpret form tables, job orders, and test memorandums. Assuring that necessary plans, material, and tools are available to accomplish the work. Ability to use large variety of tools and test equipment.
