THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF), Position Description Number D1069000 and is part of the ID AASF, National Guard.
This position is permanent.
Duties
-- Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Estimates time, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. Provides recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave.
-- Performs the full range of shop work.
-- Performs in-process, final inspection, and clear status symbols certifying work performed by others in shop.
-- Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
-- Prepares for, and participates in, various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment. Serves as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

- Must be able to obtain/maintain Secret Security Clearance.

- Must be able to obtain/maintain 15 Series MOS and attend schooling for non-destructive testing/inspections operations.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements; experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized experience which includes

Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories; experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft; experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
