DETAIL OPPORTUNITY NTE 120 days: This position serves as the principal clerical and administrative support position in the immediate organizational unit in or for which the persons assisted have responsibility, by carrying out and coordinating all the clerical and day-to-day administrative support activities which are typically required to accomplish the work of the organization. The nature and variety of the activities depend on the needs of the organization served.
Duties
Provides clerical and administrative assistance to the organization.
Determines nature of call or business of visitors,
Maintains the manager's daily calendar, making appointments and arranging conferences and meetings without specific prior approval, based on a knowledge of the manager's schedule.
Makes arrangements for such meetings by reserving space, setting the specific time, and contacting all personnel expected to attend.
Arranges for transportation and lodging for participants.
Transmits agenda and all necessary background material to participants and advises them of the topics to be discussed.
Gathers material for use in reports, presentations, and speeches of the manager.
Uses varied functions of several types such as word processing; data base management, electronic mail, as well as graphics, spreadsheet, and database management software.
Performs duties such as assisting the staff in the use of office automation hardware and software, and uses new automated procedures to monitor personnel actions and notify appropriate personnel when action is warranted.
Prepares a variety of narrative and statistical material, correspondence, reports, etc., in final form for supervisor's signature.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/27/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes but not limited to: Proofreading all incoming and outgoing correspondence to ensure grammar and punctuation are accurate; editing letters and reports for accuracy and completeness, monitoring and tracking actions to ensure timely submission; independently developing and presenting information, scheduling conferences and meetings and shifting schedules as needed, providing accurate advice on procedures, and reports; preparing travel arrangements; maintaining confidentiality on all sensitive items and prioritizing actions.
Typing Proficiency: 40 WPM.
This position is for a 120-Day Detail which requires management approval.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
