Duties
The duties, described below, represent the major duties performed at the GS-07 level. The duties performed for developmental positions will be of limited scope and complexity to develop skills, proficiency, and work experience.
Reviews and analyzes initial directives from the various military Boards of Correction to determine if corrective action directed can be taken.
Reviews and determines validity of military out-of-service claims and a small percentage of civilian claims.
Computes payment via manual calculations to members based on directives and claims and subsequent research.
Prepares vouchers for payment on adjudication of claim or outcome of directive they pertain to each branch of the service. Reconstruct and correct the appropriate pay systems.
This position works in the Claims Management Division and supports the Claims/Corrections of Record Branch.

Qualifications
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-06, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher in the Federal service. To be considered for the GS-07, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-05 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: processing a wide variety of payroll transactions; resolving problems within automated pay accounts; and checking all documents for propriety, completeness and accuracy.
Specialized Experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-06 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: processing a wide variety of complex military pay debt audits; determining debt calculations and entitlements; examining and verifying all documents for propriety, completeness and accuracy; and reviewing and processing final actions to resolve various complicated payroll problems or issues.

Education
GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled.

Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
