Duties

Functions as an Institution Hearing Program (IHP) Assistant under the Complex Case Management Coordinator (CMC) and is responsible for coordinating the Institution Hearing Program (IHP) for non-U.S. citizen inmates with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). Must be well versed in correctional policies and serves as a liaison between the inmate population, the Bureau, ICE, EOIR, and inter-departmental personnel. Responsibilities also include providing assistance to the Complex Case Management Coordinator in the performance of administrative responsibilities for the Correctional Programs/Correctional Systems Management Departments. Coordinates the Institution Hearing Program (IHP) for the three separate facilities within FCC Allenwood. This comprises approximately 500 admissions and 500 releases each year. Must maintain certification for Central Inmate Monitoring (CIM). Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience working with inmate Central Files. Experience in the preparing draft and final form of materials such as, memoranda, letters, reports, requests, etc. Experience in maintaining records and working with the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act policies and procedures. Experience in responding to routine and nontechnical inquiries for information such as status of requests, suspense dates, etc. Experience working with computer software packages, such as SENTRY in order to prepare inmate call outs for scheduled hearings. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
