Salary: $25 - 33 per hour

You will serve as a INSTRUMENT WORKER in the Metals Laboratory Branch (Code 1430.2), Quality Assurance Division (Code 1430), Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) (Code 1400), located in Philadelphia, PA a detachment of of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will perform precision tool issue and pre-check function located in the tool crib, with associated work connected to the repair and calibration service. You will maintain the Metrology Automated System for Uniform Recall and Reporting (MEASURE). You will inventory and be accountable for all Mechanical Test Measure and Diagnostic Equipment (TMandDE) used for angular and dimensional metrology, torque and Revolutions per Minute (RPM) measurement, surface finish and linear measurement. You will manual inventory count of stock on hand and daily inventory for stock adjustment. You will will be responsible for the physical transportation of and coordinating the calibration of the instruments with various calibration laboratories throughout the Navy.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION inventorying and maintaining records of equipment; installing, aligning, modifying, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, testing, and calibrating a variety of instruments; disassembling items and performing detailed visual examinations to detect worn or damaged parts; proficiently use various computer-based applications including eFEM; follow detailed instructions.
