The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Communications Support Specialist in the Division of Information Services, Headquarters Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI).
Duties
Manages the administrative processing of requests for information from AFOSI investigative files.
Provides guidance and information to all command levels and national agencies.
Performs a variety of administrative clerical functions in support of the Agency Release program.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
- The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
- This is drug Testing Designated Position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance.
- This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act 5 CFR 551.205.
- The incumbent must undergo an internal background investigation by AFOSI and must be approved for duty by the Commander of AFOSI or the Commander’s designated representative(s).
- Computer Skills are required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions for the GS-0301, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards
This is a target position with known promotion potential to the full performance grade of GS-11. Selection can be made at any grade for which determined qualified. May be non-competitively promoted to the interim or target grade, subject to meeting eligibility/qualification requirements, at management's discretion.
GS-09:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Applying policies, principles, procedures, techniques, and methodologies to the administering of Information Releases for federal agencies; Releasing information, technical advice, and assistance to Department of Defense (DoD) components, other federal/state/local agencies, and to field units on assignments; Responding to and advising law enforcement agencies on information requests and responding to other agency requests for information; and Researching and analyzing policy guidance for factual, investigative, and intelligence matters and acquiring supervisor concurrence on judgment decisions that require the balancing of conflicting goals.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR have completed two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR have a LL.B or J.D., if related. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts)

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts)
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
GS-11:

Examples of specialized experience includes: Applying policies, principles, procedures, techniques, and methodologies to the administering of Information Releases for federal agencies; Releasing information, technical advice, and assistance to all Department of Defense (DoD) components, other federal/state/local agencies, and to field units on a variety of assignments worldwide; Responding to and advising law enforcement agencies on information requests and responding to all other agency requests for information; Gathering information, analyzing issues, and developing recommendations to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of documented processing; and Providing extended policy guidance on complex factual, investigative, and intelligence matters and exercising judgment in the balancing of conflicting goals.

EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR have completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR have a LL.M, if related. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies to administering an Information Release for a federal agency including (but not limited to): providing information, technical advice and assistance to all Department of Defense (DOD) components, other federal, state and local agencies, and to AFOSI field units worldwide on a wide variety of assignments; responding to and advising law enforcement agencies on information requests; and responding to all other agency requests for information as appropriate.
Knowledge of AFOSI mission, organizations, investigative methods; and guidelines regarding information disclosure and protected information associated with AFOSI.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust suspense priorities to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
Knowledge of electronic information technologies as applied to information release including law enforcement and counterintelligence case management systems, databases and SharePoint.
Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools and techniques to support office administrative operations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
