About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Cyber Military Intelligence Group, Fort Eisenhower, GA.

Duties

Serves as a Cyber Military Intelligence Military Group Computer Scientist providing technical expertise to Intelligence Processing and Exploitation/Production efforts in support of Information Warfare. Conducts processing, exploitation, and analysis of specified technical and technically derived data, information, and reporting in order to expose actionable information and derive information of value to Intelligence analysis and production. Recommends technically feasible processing and exploitation solutions using analysis, design and experimental development, and integration of techniques, methodologies, and technologies to fulfill information requirements. Provide technical advice on the use of computer systems and network technologies to solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to NSA and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) accredited facilities and networks. [Military and External Affiliates Division (MEAD) process.]
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required 15% or less of the time.
  • May be required to participate and/or testify in domestic and/or foreign judicial proceedings.
  • Must maintain acquired skill sets and employ them when needed.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible schedule, may include weekend and holidays.
  • All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. In addition to the basic requirements above, all applicants must meet the qualification requirements below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as conducting Intelligence Processing and Exploitation, interpreting data using Computer Science techniques; and/or analyzing technically derived data/information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Computer Science, Engineering Technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
