This position is located at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department; Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual labor tasks in support of MWR programs and facilities.
Duties
The selected candidate will:
Use mower, weed-eater, edger, blower and/or other field equipment to cut grass, edge sidewalks and walkways, rake and clear foliage and debris.
Pick up trash on athletic fields and/or golf course.
Empty trash bins, sweep walkways and facility entryways; may use pressure washer in removing heavily soiled spots.
May maintain facility public restrooms ensuring the availability of bathroom tissue, hand towels and soap.
May be required to move bulky items such as boxes, supplies, and equipment.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Must be able to work outside, subject to inclement weather condition.
- Must be able to carry, lift and move objects up 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and lift.
Qualifications

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Ability and skill to operate lawn maintenance equipment and other basic tools, such as screw drives, hammers, shovels and brooms.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instruction to include MSDS, safety precautions, warning labels or caution signs.
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction given by the supervisor.
- Ability to work safely utilizing personal protective equipment when required.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
