This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of ensuring that regulatory data is reported accurately and meets various stakeholder needs. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Duties

Reviews, analyzes, and validates financial information submitted by insured state nonmember banks, national banks, and trust companies. Such information is contained in electronically filed Reports of Condition, Reports of Income, Summary of Deposits, structural data submissions, and other data collections.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. CG-11: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-09 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience working in at least one of these areas: (1) bank reporting requirements, (2) the bank examination process, (3) capital and money markets, (4) assessing economic conditions impacting financial institutions; or (5) analyzing the banking industry to identify economic developments that could affect insured institutions. OR you may substitute education as follows: EDUCATION: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with a major study in finance, business administration , economics, accounting, insurance, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position. OR COMBINATION of graduate level education as described above beyond the 2nd full year of graduate education, and specialized experience as described above, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. CG-12: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-11 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience working in at least one of these areas: (1) resolving accounting and capital market issues, (2) identifying economic developments affecting insured institutions, or (3) compiling and supplying information for studies and/or policy decisions related to financial institutions. CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience performing mathematical and statistical calculations, resolving accounting, and capital market discrepancies; making recommendations for corrective action; compiling and providing information for examinations or studies related to financial institutions. Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
